Dr. Elinor Sloan is professor of international relations in the Political Science department at Carleton University and a recognized expert in defence policy and military strategy. She previously served as a defence analyst with the Department of National Defence and as an officer in the Canadian Armed Forces. Her research focuses on Canadian and U.S. defence policy, NORAD, Arctic security, and military capabilities, and she has published extensively in these areas.
