Fried: Canada should “make it a national priority to ensure we have the capacity to export our energy products beyond the US, and specifically to Asia.” Agree?

Canada should make it a national priority to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and move our economy away from dependence on fossil fuels. Pouring public and private money into oil exports may make the rich among us richer (a bit of which may trickle down) but it will also raise the cost of dealing with climate change exponentially higher. People living in poverty are already paying with their lives for our profligate resource use. If Canada is going to ever get serious about climate change, we have to slow down the fossil fuel economy instead of accelerating it, and put our resources into alternative energy,
