PM Harper’s disdain for the UN General Assembly, epitomized by his preference for attending a photo op at Tim Horton’s in October 2009, is well-established.

A year later this country lost its bid for an elected seat on the Security Council.

A high price has already been paid for Canada’s retreat from multilateralism. As the national rebranding continues, further costs can be anticipated.
