Phil Boyle is a Research Associate in the Global Urban Research Unit at Newcastle University and former postdoctoral fellow at Temple University. His research interests are in policing, security and social control, particularly in the context of cities and urban governance. His recent research focused on the Olympic Games with publications appearing in International Political Science, Urban Studies and the British Journal of Sociology. Current research focuses on governing emergencies and disasters. Phil holds a PhD in Sociology from the University of Alberta.
