Janet Keeping

President, Sheldon Chumir Foundation for Ethics in Leadership

Janet Keeping has degrees in architecture, philosophy and law. She has been President of the Sheldon Chumir Foundation for Ethics in Leadership since April 2006. Janet was a co-founder in 1982 of the Alberta Civil Liberties Research Centre, of which she was the first Executive Director. Prior to joining the Foundation, Janet was Research Associate and Director of Russia Programs for the Canadian Institute of Resources Law at the University of Calgary for many years. Janet was one of the first directors of the Calgary Civil Liberties Association, formed in 1977, and is a director of the Rocky Mountain Civil Liberties Association, founded in 2009, as well as of the Canadian Civil Liberties Association and Transparency International Canada, both of which are based in Toronto. Janet was born in Montreal and has lived in Calgary since 1973. She has three children and aspires to grandparenthood.
