Evelyn Amony is an advocate and leader for women's rights in the war affected region of northern Uganda.

Evelyn Amony is an advocate and leader for women's rights in the war affected region of northern Uganda. She is the co-founder and chairperson of the Ugandan based Women's Advocacy Network - a forum of over 200 women using their voices to advocate for justice, supported by the Justice and Reconciliation Project. Evelyn was abducted by the rebel group the Lord's Resistance Army, and spent over 11 years in captivity. On her escape, she vowed to tell the story and work for women's rights and peace in her country. She has been interviewed by international and national media and is currently working on a book about her experiences.
