After the Syrian revolution in 2011, Elias moved from working in pharmacy to the humanitarian and social development fields. He has a master’s degree in Conflict Security and Development from the University of Sussex. In 2015, he co-founded House of Peace (HOPe), a community-based peace-building organization in Lebanon. In 2019, Elias became a board member of Anjad Howse, a collective of Arab artists based in Montreal.
