Private Consultant to Telecommunications, ICT and Internet Organizations
Don MacLean has thirty-five years experience in ICT and Internet policy and governance. He was a senior official in the former Canadian Department of Communications in the 1980s, head of strategic planning at the ITU in the 1990s, and has been a private consultant to Canadian and international telecommunications, ICT and Internet organizations since 2000. From 2006-12 Don MacLean was a Senior Associate of the International Institute for Sustainable Development, where he worked on projects that examined the relationship between ICTs, the Internet and sustainability. He is one of the founding principals of the Global Connectivity Group for Sustainable Development, a newly-established consultancy that has spun out of IISD to continue this work in the marketplace of ideas.
