Dale Smith has been a member of the Parliamentary Press Gallery since 2008 as a freelance journalist, and currently contributes primarily to Thomson Reuters and the Canadian Bar Association's National Magazine. Smith has a twice-weekly column on LooniePolitics.com and frequently contributes to Maclean's and the Globe and Mail. He is the author of The Unbroken Machine: Canada's Democracy in Action, which aims to fill in the gaps of civic literacy about Canada's Westminster-style parliamentary system. He also contributed to Royal Progress: Canada's Monarchy in an Age of Disruption, as part of a conference held by the Institute for the Study of the Crown in Canada in 2019.
