President of the Canadian International Council
Ben Rowswell is president of the Canadian International Council. He was a Canadian diplomat from 1993 to 2018, ending his career as ambassador to Venezuela. After the attacks of September 11, 2001, he served as policy advisor on the Smart Border Task Force of the Privy Council Office and as chargé d’affaires in Baghdad between 2003 and 2005. He joined the Priorities & Planning Secretariat of PCO during the reorganization of Canada’s mission in Afghanistan in 2008. In Afghanistan, he served as deputy head of mission from 2008 to 2009 and as representative of Canada in Kandahar from 2009 to 2010.
