Yes, in due course as the formal ties to the monarchy (Queen of Canada, etc.) become less-and-less based in reality; recognizing the British monarch as Head of the Commonwealth should and could be maintained as there's no reality test in that case. Having a foreign Head of State confuses both most Canadians and certainly most foreigners and weakens a clear sense of a unique Canadian identity.
